Allergens on food labels mandatory from late 2005
From November 2005 a number of ingredients that can cause an allergic reaction have to be stated on food labels. This involves the allergens fish, shellfish, eggs, peanuts, soya beans, milk and other dairy products (including lactose), nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulphites and grains containing gluten.
For the investigation of raw materials and final products for the presence of allergens that come under the new directive, Eurofins has developed the Aller-GeneŠ test programme. All tests and techniques within Aller-GeneŠ have been accredited according to ISO-17025.
