Eurofins revenue increases by 44 percent to 216.6m euro

During the first half of the year from January 1 until June 30, 2007, Eurofins achieved revenues of 216.6m euro, which represents an increase of 44 percent compared with 150.9m euro in the first half of the year in 2006. The revenues of the second quarter of 2007 were 113.8m euro, a 41 percent increase over the second quarter of 2006 (80.7m euro).

Eurofins offers Melamine testing

Following the death of a number of dogs and cats in the United States, the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) highlighted the presence of melamine in pet food and its ingredients such as wheat gluten, rice protein concentrate and corn gluten. Eurofins has developed a test for melamine.

Eurofins Analytico acquires C-mark

Friday March 31st, Eurofins Analytico took over the company C-mark. Because of this takeover, the new combination remains the leader in the Dutch market for monitoring water quality and advising swimming pools. Together, they will improve their efficiency and have more opportunities to exploit the market even further. C-mark was a daughter company of Vitens.
New regulations for dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs

At the beginning of February, the European Commission enacted new regulations in which they set the maximum levels for the total of dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs in food and feed. From November 2006 onwards, it is not only required to analyse all food and feed samples for dioxins but also for dioxin-like PCBs.
Detection of bird flu in foodstuffs

Fast and affordable dioxin analyses

With new technical developments, Eurofins speeds up dioxin analyses and makes them more affordable. In the past, the analysis of dioxins was often a special discipline far removed from routine testing and thus complex, expensive and time-consuming. Dioxin scandals that have arisen emphasise just how important regular controls and the right analyses of food and feeding stuffs are. The latest crisis was provoked by an inadequate analytical strategy, in which only PCBs were analysed instead of PCBs and dioxins.
Eurofins Analytico analyses migration from packaging materials

Eurofins Analytico is able to look for Isopropylthioxanthone (ITX) in milk via GC-MS. The test is accredited according to ISO17025. The limit of detection is 1 mg/kg. Recently, the European Union gave several notifications about the presence of ITX in milk. ITX migrates from packaging materials to the milk.
New version of TerrAttesT

Analytico has released a new version of TerrAttesT, version 4.22, on November 21, 2005. TerrAttesT combines a full quantitative determination of over 200 chemical compounds with low detection limits and spectacular small sample sizes.

Eurofins Pharma announces that ADME Bioanalyses (Montpellier, France) becomes a member of its Pharma division. ADME Bioanalyses specialises in pre-clinical and clinical analytical services including pharmacokinetic and metabolism assessments. The facility has a full GLP license and the experience level needed to provide services in the support of the registration of innovative medicines. Next to services to the Pharma sector, ADME provides similar (GLP) services to the agro and fine chemical industry.

Customer sailing trip big success
On 3 September last Analytico Food organised a sailing trip for its customers. On a beautiful late summer day at nine in the morning, the guests filed on board the Frisius van Adel, moored at Stavoren. More than 50 Analytico Food customers from the food industry were on hand on the deck of this three-masted clipper, to hoist sail and make for Hindeloopen and Workum.
EU validation of Ceditect® BSE completed
Eurofins Analytico Food has carried out the EU validation of the BSE test Ceditect ® developed by Cedi-Diagnostics. Cedi-Diagnostics, the Lelystad-based institute for the veterinary sciences and health, was founded and formed from the ID Lelystad. Ceditect ® tests are used all over the world. The new BSE test should result in a big improvement in speed and efficiency.

New accreditations and qualifications

In the past few months, Analytico Environment has succeeded in achieving a number of important new qualifications and further expanding the scope of its accreditations. An accreditation was achieved, for example, for the determination of ONB/OPB, chlorobenzenes, fluoride and phenol index in accordance with AP04. Analytico now has the complete indication by the Ministry of Housing, Regional Development and the Environment for the packages SG1, SG2, U1 in soil and the packages SB1, SB2, U1, U2 in building materials.
Allergens on food labels mandatory from late 2005
From November 2005 a number of ingredients that can cause an allergic reaction have to be stated on food labels. This involves the allergens fish, shellfish, eggs, peanuts, soya beans, milk and other dairy products (including lactose), nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sulphites and grains containing gluten.

Forty Analytico Food customers over to PAIS4U

More than forty Analytico Food customers have already installed the on-line communication package PAIS4U. After a pilot at Quaker, producer of products such as muesli and cruesli, Analytico made the definitive version of PAIS4U available for Food customers in late 2003. Thirty-five percent of all tests are now reported electronically at Analytico Food.
